So my oldest horse Fred had his teeth enthusiastically over rasped/floated by the previous equine dental technician and because of this now has two molars rasped down to the dentine and the (dead) pulp exposed.
arse!

A new hope dawns and Fred worry
Two more weeks and I'll be back on board :-) am a little disappointed as was expecting it to be Monday and had foot soldier booked but vet thinks yes I could get on as originally agreed but two more weeks would be better, given how long it has been another two weeks isn't that long really.
Fred is a worry :-( his heels have collapsed since being in on box rest for the check ligament injury, got vet to examine him.
His feet are hot at the heels which isn't that much of a surprise as he is putting a fair bit of weight down through them, which of course compounds the issue. I couldn't feel a pulse (well I could but it was normal) but got vet to check.
So upshot is vet and farrier going to speak, vet thinks he is doing a good job but that Fred may need some ££££ pads that help with this plus half shoes have also tested ACTH . Farrier has used the pads before but without success in fact made that pony worse which is why Fred not in them but he is hoping vet can tell him about success stories.
To be honest I'm scared this could be the issue that loses me Fred.

One of the best things that ever happened to me
Five years ago today Chorister landed in a stable block near me  he showed me I could love again. Sent his ex owner two dozen yellow roses so glad she sold him to me
Dearest Fred if you hadn't been there I'd have given up; my two bay boys you really do fill my heart with gladness each and every time I see your bay faces.
And in other news I'm going to Arrow with Pip will be balm for the soul.
For my two bay boys:-
Oh the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
And you fill my life with laughter
You can make it better
Ease my troubles that's what you do
There's a love that's divine
And it's yours and it's mine
Like the sun
At the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray to the One
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
There's a love that's divine
And it's yours and it's mine
And it shines like the sun
At the end of the day we will give thanks
And pray to the One
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there's no one above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles, that's what you do
Take away my sadness
Fill my life with gladness
Ease my troubles that's what you do
Fill my life with gladness
Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles that's what you do

Fred and the farrier
So today had boy wonder farrier out, Fred was up first so quick chat pointed out how Fred was standing i.e. still compensating for check ligament and then I got on with mucking out.
Box rest hasn't been good for his feet nor has shifting weight off injured leg.
Any ways am mucking out when farrier pops head around door and asks about putting frog support pads on Fred to try and help his feet.
Farrier thinks feet problems are age related (Cushings) :-( rather than down to box rest.
I feel really :-( as hate the moment when it hits me that Fred is elderly and ...
I love that pony and whatever the future holds am grateful I am owned by him, he makes me laugh he is cheeky beyond cheeky but sometimes I can't breathe for loving him.
The other day I was mucking out around him and he came over and pressed his cheek against mine I'll never forget that moment. Of course five minutes later he was trying to tip over the wheelie!

Four years ago today 23rd March
I had my now beloved Chorrie vetted, rang the bank and transferred the money and his lovely now ex-owner J offered to pop him back for me.
J is fab especially if you consider that it is a six hour round trip.
Every year since then I've sent her a bouquet of flowers to say thank you because I can't believe how I lucked out back on the 17th March 2007 when I went to view a horse for sale.
I walked into a stable where a bay horse was eating from a hay net tied to the back wall, he turned around, looked at me and whickered. He had me at hello and that feeling has deepened over time.
I am so lucky he is beyond amazing.
I love you C Bun Happy 4th Anniversary

How do I love thee
let me count the ways
Fred - I love you because you're cheeky and nudge me when I'm tack cleaning outside your stable and you think you're being ignored. I love that you come over to me in the field for a cuddle when I turn Chorrie out, but most of all I love you for being there when I lost Skunk and giving me someone to carry on going to the yard for; without you I'd have given up for good.
Chorrie - I love that you chunter at me, I love that you turn your head to watch me walk down to you in the morning, seeing your face over the door makes my heart soar. I love your kindness and I love that you taught me it is possible to love again after great heartache and loss.
My two bay boys I love you
xx
